The Sierra Vista Community Chorus traces its roots back to a senior sing-along group established in the mid-1980s. For nearly a decade, this group continued to gather and enjoy singing together in a simple, communal format. However, in 1996, a significant transformation occurred. The group shifted its focus to more structured choral singing, learning to harmonize and perform a diverse repertoire of music, including show tunes, classic pop songs, and sacred pieces.

This evolution marked a pivotal moment in the chorus’s history, as it opened its doors to singers of all ages and skill levels. This inclusive approach led to a surge in membership, propelling the chorus from a small gathering of seniors to a thriving community ensemble. Since 1999, the chorus has experienced steady growth, expanding its membership to over 60 dedicated singers.

The Sierra Vista Community Chorus remains committed to its inclusive ethos. Anyone with a passion for singing is welcome to join, regardless of experience or musical background. Auditions are not required, and there are no membership fees. The chorus provides a supportive and enjoyable environment for singers to come together, learn, and share their love of music.
